BRIMM107: Demystifying Structuring Concentrate Offtake, Marketing and Pricing

BRIMM107 will focus on tactics to increase information transparency in the concentrate trade, and how asymmetric information can result in complex deals that impact miners' profitability. We will talk about how off-take agreements are structured, making it challenging to price. We will end the day with solutions, both technical and relationship-based. We will quantify the value of fixing the problem and work out a couple of synthetic case studies.

After completing this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Develop a goal post framework for the real options around off-take
  • Explain, negotiate, and price an off-take agreement
  • Understand the fine print that drives that pricing
  • Be able to identify the levers to maximize an operations value
  • Connect off-take pricing to NPV and project valuation
  • Articulate the development trade-offs between better concentrate specs
  • Prioritize and evaluate a development project from a concentrate off-take point of view, and create an actionable plan

Anyone involved in the mining business, from project finance, legal processes, plant flow chart design, or metallurgical design, will benefit from this course.
